Sat Nam,
Todays Kriya is about Prana, ACHIEVING EQUILIBRIUM: BALANCING THE VAYUS
Prana: The subtle life force, the sub-atomic energy. The first unit of energy. Prana is the motion and coding of life energies through the realms of the mind and body.
Prana is the breath of life, the energy we receive each time oxygen is taken into the body, the life force that permeates each and every cell in our body, sent to us from the universe, the creator, on each and every breath.
Prana with a capital "P" divides itself into different frequencies or different types of motion within the areas of the body. These are the VAYUS. Each of these subdivisions of Prana has a natural home in the body. If too much of a particular Prana accumulates in an area away from its normal functioning or too little is there when it is needed, that creates disorder, an illness of body, mind or emotion.
"This set of exercises is to activate the ha-tha (sun-moon or Pingala and ida) and the Shushmana through a pure physical force. It is the best set because you are moving all the airs of the body and bringing an equilibrium to the entire glandular system. If you just practice this one set alone, you will be surprised how much control on your mind, body and soul and how much combination you can achieve. All these exercises open up the vayu channels. If you are lazy in their practice, they will not benefit you. Activity must create harmony with time space." YB Praana, Praanee, Praanayam
Though there are many subdivisions of Prana, these are the five major VAYUS of the body.
UDANA: Located in the throat & head region, it resides in the larynx and upwards into the head. it throws the air up and out. It is about projection. It is active in all forms of speech as well as in expelling through vomiting. It interacts with all the senses in the head.
PRANA: Located in the chest region Prana with a (small P) accumulates between the base of the heart and the neck. It is linked to the function of the lungs and inspiration. When you are filled with prana, your ready for life, filled with energy and your mind takes on a sense of positivity.
SAMANA: Located in the stomach region, rules the region between the heart and navel and governs much of the body's metabolic activity. It tends to organize, systematize, and decide where things go. People with two little samana or upset samanahave a sense of mental confusion, confused emotions, and an inability to know what is really true for the emotionally. Strong samana allows you to discriminate, and gives you emotional clarity.
APANA: Located in the intestinal region, having is abode below the navel and governs all the functions related to elimination.
It is associated with elimination through the rectum, bladder, colon, and genitals. It even flows down and leaves the body through the feet. Powerful apana is needed these day to deal with the elimination of toxins. Some one with to little apana will tend to be slow, lazy and have a sense of heaviness, confusion or stupidity. Someone with strong apana has a sense of security and the ability to put one foot in front of the other.
VYANA: located in the entire body, It is like the subtle connecting tissue (fascia). It governs the overall coordination and movement of the muscles and joints throughout the body. When this is strong there is a sense of interconnectedness and flow. When vyana is disturbed one part of the body may feel isolated or disconnected from the others. The mind has a difficult time staying with any one thought. Ideas constantly change, and thoughts are scattered.
Our meditation will be a wonderful Praanayam,
EIGHT-STROKE BREATH FOR ENERGY AND STRESS RELEASE
" This eight strokes will make you watch and count the breath and that will force you to relate to your breath. Best procedure is that you do this exercise every evening. Eleven minutes a day of eight stroke breathing can give you enough energy to balance your (daily) consumption of (praanic) life and take you out f stress. Is it possible? Do you have eleven minutes?"
